Beware of the Update

So sorry you’re feeling deflated - I’m sure no one wants that at all. I expect they need some time to work things out - it must be tough making products for so many different end user rigs I imagine, tweaks must constantly be needed  Midi can be pretty weather dependent by itself… I think with Crow Hill we are getting a pretty unique package of “services” most of which are completely free, and it’s quite new as a team, even if we’ve “known” Christian for so long now? Just an additional thought, not to discount how you feel, good money and all that, it’s still a transaction.

Hi Steve, everyone deserves a chance to redeem themselves. I think Christian maybe conscious of any issues that maybe causing his customers problems. I was just trying to bring a little humour into the whole situation. I think he is a man on a mission and while striving to be successful for himself to leave a legacy for his family I think he is very much passionate about keeping his customers very happy. Sometimes there are blips on the road that just need to be ironed out. Remember that Crow Hill is an early stage small business. I think in the long run you will be very much happy for using the Crow Hill products. I will continue using them myself because they offer a different little bit of something special that major libraries don’t offer. So while you maybe deflated and while I maybe frustrated lets pick our chins up bro because I think he wants the best for everyones success and I believe he will go the extra mile to maintain brand loyalty. That’s my gut instinct. I’m not here to defend Christian or Crow Hill. I don’t gamble but I’ve backed a horse called Christian Henson and the Crow Hill Company brand and I’m sticking with it.

I’m glad you liked that Ros. Sometimes a bit of humour can go a long long way. Look I’m doing it again because Mondays is my major composition day throughout the whole week when I try the most to work on my compositions and look I’m getting nothing done. I thought a little break would do me good. ahh.

So now after eating the mean chicken roast. What’s the title of your track gonna be? You sound like you’re a Michelin 5 star chef Kev. Come on now. Now we are talking.

Don’t get me wrong, the libraries are beautiful, and I have several. The same reason as you, I bought them and that says a lot. Christian is not new to this kind of business, and he brings oodles of experience and knowledge with him to CrowHill, without going into the politics, the task at hand, is as simple as fitting an engine to a car, no good without it, and the same as midi learning in vst instruments; but what I find a little disparaging, is the fact there is no acknowledgement about the situation, and I think that sometimes, silence can speak volumes. They are great libraries, that’s for sure.

You’ve got a point Steve. Have you raised a ticket with the tech team at Crow Hill, and if so, what was their response?

Totally agree Steve and apologise if you feel I misinterpreted your sentiment; maybe passionately would have read better than strongly!

I have been reluctant in jumping to the updated instruments in fear of a break in the artistic flow; which is a shame.

For yourself, would saving as a template be a work around; not that you should have too? And like Michael suggests, pop in a ticket!

I also agree Kev. And not only that our composing time is a valuable commodity to us. We just need answers quickly.

I do have templates in Nuendo 14 and Cubase 14 Pro, but the midi info is not saved for a few libraries, I still have to re write CC1 all the time. It has to be done any how, but for me Marshal Brass was the foundation of a brass band piece I was going to work on with the library. I have put in a ticket/suggestion about it, and before that I was told via email that the midi problem was not going to be solved in the near future basically. I did post their response in my first post about this in the Topic Marsha Brass Update. Cheers guys, it is what it is.

I wish Michael! I know my way around the pot’s and pan’s to just about maintain an unhealthy waistline; that’s about It  .

I feel you all on this thread. You see Christian on the videos use Timbre and Expression simultaneously to make the libraries sound even more beautiful and give it more life but I can’t do that on my current setup without being able to midi learn it so I’m losing that human touch right now by having to draw it in.

I hope they do start making this a priority to fix.

I hope things workout for you buddy and you get to finish that brass band piece. It would be great if we all got to hear it once it’s finished. That’s unless its a private piece of work that your doing for a client which I would then fully understand. :+1:

Cheers Michael, I have changed the instrumentation for the work, Spitfire Symphony Orchestra has the appropriate Brass section now, dam shame about Marshal Brass and Nocturnal Gestures.

It would be a great pleasure to provide a link to the finished track and cast away any doubt that it’s in progress. I have to write the lyrics also, but we’ll get there.

Take care now.

Bravo. Nothing in the pipeline I hear.

Answer to my own question is, do not update Nocturnal Gesture unless like me, in Logic, you’ll have to use the Pencil to input any modulation!

My Crow Hill library is slowly being destroyed!!!
