Hey - I’m Alan D Boyd. I have made music for TV, film & library and am also making my own documentary films about music makers - the UK session musicians of the 60s & 70s. I’m also putting out records myself and recently on 604 Records in Canada who is re-releasing some of my back catalog as well putting out new material.
met some of you in Edinburgh on the walk - hope to do so again! If you google me cause you want to know more I actually come up top - be sure to put Alan D Boyd - learned that from F Murray Abraham…
Hi,
My name is Dominic and I live in York ( the original, not the new one ). I’ve been messing around with sequencers and guitars since I bought a CZ5000 back in … well, back in the day ![]()
I currently record under the name xiiixxi on Souncloud but gave up writing for libraries a few years ago after being with a particularly weak one (no names) who literally just gave material away for pennies ![]()
I was drawn here after happening across a video by Christian about Reichian phased music - something that has interested me for many a moon. What happened to that project? is it still ongoing?
In addition to writing music I am also a rather rubbish C++ coder trying desperately to get a sequencer I created to actually run on other peoples computers rather than just my own - or so it appears. If anyone has any ideas about that please, let me know
You can find it here XiiixxiQ : it is a [ FREE ] Non Linear, Poly-metric, Polyrhythmic, Morph-able, Step Sequencer. It can also do a passable version of Reich’s temporal phasing in real time.
Anyway - that’s me.
Hello
Hello everyone. Allan Keen, @allankeenmusic, UK based, a pro songwriter, recording engineer and producer. I dabble with composing little chamber pieces and I’m a sucker for amazing string libraries so TCHC I have them all. Love a bit of brass so Nocturnal Gestures was a great addition. I’m a published songwriter and work in pop, folk and Americana genres mainly. So any samples that are close, intimate and up to small chamber sections is my bag. Glad to be part of this wonderful adventure.
Hey there Stuart. We’re all crap when we start. But keep playing - something wonderful happens it sort of clicks, muscle memory I suppose but I still remember the afternoon it happened to me I was improvising and suddenly I was gobsmacked at what came out of my fingers. Happy practicing!
Thanks Allan - I really appreciate the encouragement.
Well said and very true.
oh man, i never came thru this place lol
HI!
im Jay, im a composer and sound designer from Los Angeles now living in Guatemala (yes, the howler monkeys place, and yes i will try to get some recordings some day) moved here right before covid so work has been iffy around here.
i am currently on a “build my own sampler instruments” phase working on decent sampler, it’s been VERY entertaining so far and i might be making a lot more in the future

Hi I’m John, from Melbourne Australia. It’s lovely to be here and meet you all, eventually, perhaps. Did I read a post here from someone who is 81 years old? That’s great, I’m getting up there myself, hope I’ll still be going strong at that age.
Hello! I am Luis Torres, living in Portland (Oregon, USA) and originally from Puerto Rico. Completely new to the conversation here at Crow Hill, and, looking forward to connecting with others. I have loved music since I was a kid, and now at 68 trying to learn a couple of things in the Orchestral space.
Hi,
I am SeleDreams. I’m a music producer from France.

Hi All,
Jay here from Fort Wayne, Indiana (US). Rusty musician getting back into the craft after years being away. Spend my day job in the Software Development, Cloud, and Cyber Security worlds depending on the day. Graduated with a Bachelor’s in music years ago, but school really burned me out on it for a long time. Hoping to dive back in as a hobby.
Found Christian’s vlog a few years ago on YouTube when I was looking to get back into writing music. I can’t say enough how appreciative I’ve been of his content over the past few years. Informative and inspiring when I needed it! Really looking forward to joining the community and helping seeing Crow Hill succeed however I can help!
Cheers!

I’m Merlin. I’m 38, live in Germany and have been making music since I was a small kid. My Dad had a studio, I played in bands, DJ-ed a bit, Composed, Produced, taught…now I have a little home studio.
I’m very much a Jack of all trades. I did music stuff professionally for a while. Now my main field of work is psychology, counseling, and astrology. I used to specialize in working with neurodivergent and gifted adults. I know…very different world.
My biggest treasure in the world of music are the connections I made and am making. Friendships, projects, ideas, that all formed based on music and music making somehow. I just love doing creative things with others.
Obviously for that reason, amongst others, I like what Christian and TCHC are doing here. I didn’t know there was a forum. Somehow slept on that. But now I’m here and excited to look around and see what’s happening here.
Happy Holiday season to you all, and I’m excited to meet you!
~Merlin
Hi all. I’m Dee and in the UK. Oldskool raver at heart and been making music since getting a Casio SA10 when I was a kid. Got kicked out of music class in secondary for making rave tunes instead of “real songs”. Apart from a laptop for (attempted) mastering, I’ve been hardware based for most of my life. Synths, samplers, groove boxes, and multi trackers and only introduced the wonders of a PC DAW to the studio 10 years ago. I’ve DJ’d, been in a bass player in a blues/punk band, recorded and mixed said band, set up live PAs for other bands, help record demos for singers, and made intro songs for youtuber friends. Never actually been formally educated in any of it, just learned as I went along.
Can’t read music, but got a pretty decent ear (though one of them is a bit shot due to DJing
)
I’ve always appreciated soundtracks and appreciate cinematic sound design. Hell, I love all music, the technicals, mixing, recording, creating. I guess that’s why I still have a day job that isn’t music related… I just can’t pick a lane!
It’s all good though. I love every minute I spend in my home studio and appreciate the wonderful things like Decent sampler, Kontakt Player,Vaults and Crowhill vsts that give people like me a taste of quality instruments without spending an awful lot of money.
I hope I can learn a thing or two from you guys and maybe get some inspiration and confidence to step out a little further into the unknown lol.
Hi Everyone,
Currently living in Edinburgh, close to CH-HQ. Originally from Fort William, spent many years in the UAE, Middle East.
Started off playing guitar, loved Joe Satriani and want ed to be just like him. I started using two simple tape recorders as my initial ‘composing rig’…sounded naff but was fun. Moved onto a Korg M1 and Cubase v1.0, then I was hooked.
I use Logic Pro, have many sample libraries and accumulating compositions on SoundCloud over the last decade or so. Have a few releases, but my achilles heel has always been mixing and mastering - I’d love to be able to mix/master a lush composition that sounds great on any medium.
Glad to be here!
Stephen
Hi crow hill hillbillies!
After a decade of playing instruments with focus of technical metal music I transitioned to producing electronic and cinematic soundtracks. My focus is on futuristic sci-fi cyberpunk style music, both heavy bass dance and cinematic soundtracks and soundscapes. I publish on all platform but focus on youtube as I am also making visuals to pair along with the soundtracks.

I hope to meet some like-minded people here for future collaborations ^^
Cheers!

I’m Steph from the city of Ghent in Belgium, Europe. I’ve been around in the online media composer community for a while but it’s only now I realise I still hadn’t introduced myself on this platform. I’m not a professional musician, and I don’t intend to become one. I’m a graphic designer that has huge fun making soundtracks for films that only exist in my head. And I’m desperately trying to get rid of my gear acquisition syndrome.
→ Hildur Guðnadóttir → Krzysztof Penderecki → Benjamin Wallfish → Lisa Morgenstern → Jóhann Jóhannsson → Hania Rani → Max Richter → Steven Price → A Winged Victory for the Sullen. To name but a few of the people I admire.
