I’m on the hunt for resources to learn more of the technical elements of the art of sampling and wondered if you find folks could steer me in the direction of anything that you deem to be good quality or worthwhile?
I have been field recording for a number of years but have recently been making an attempt to get into production. I’d like to be able to be able to use field recordings as elements in creations.
I’ve had a look at the decent sampler and thought that would possibly be the best way to achieve it.
Anything on the technicalities would be beneficial, so if you have any good resources I’d love to hear, same with communities, I saw Tracklib saying they had a discord, but it seems to be some kind of masonic thing where you just cannot find a link for it.
decent sampler has a a big guide on how to program it so i would say thats a great platform to use, i would say the pianobook youtube channel has a lot of resources that christian and the team did back then that are super good to get started on that. also dan keen (who made decent sampler) has great stuff on it, i think jon myer also has a few things about sampling but i dont remember.
obviously here there’s a lot of conversation about sampling here for sure and the podcast
Great thanks for these, I shall go and dig deeper. I was finding that searching for sampling was a bit of a fraught exercise as it is a split meaning and most of what was being churned up was of the sampling for hip hop and EDM type use, not quite the same kind of thing I was after. Appreciate your help
