I’m a Hamilton (just outside Glasgow) based producer writing Electronic Dance music, with an element of Orchestration in each.
I’ve been DJing for the past 26 years. I’ve been writing electronic music since 1986. I am not classically trained (except for watching 80’s TV and movies) and my only training in electronica is watching Jean Michel Jarre in ‘Redezvous Houston’ in 1986, on the old grey whistle test. Well that and the 26 years playing this stuff in clubs and pubs all over the UK, with a brief stint in Ibiza in 2006.

When starting with synths, apart from the prohibitive cost, they were never regarded as true instruments. When samplers eventually hit the scene everything changed. I worked behind a bar in Destiny nightclub (Glasgow) in 1999 to 2005, to see what elements of a song impacted the dancefloor, moved onto lighting and fell into DJing (I’m still here).

Whilst working in a community Arts Project I was asked to put a concert proposal together for Glasgow City Council. A complete feasability study, stage design and a full track listing later, not to mention the Scottish Arts Council re-branding several times, GCC decided to put individual musicians in pubs instead of a large open air event. That killed everything. The passion. I moved onto community radio for 8 years and left, 2 years ago, to start writing again.

So here we are; I’ve released a few tracks through distrokid, so I’m available on spotify & whatever. My passion for writing is through the roof and I really want to know how to orchestrate and get into the mindset of the composer and hopeful incorporate that into my music.

I know what I do isn’t everyone’s cup of Tea, especially in Crow Hill, but I’d appreciate any feedback. This is a link to an unfinished work, if you are interested. Oh, and I am open to collaboration.
