So, I really wanna share an achievement I achieved
I scored an animated short recently, which is called “The Wolf and The Vixen” and I wanna share my thoughts as bLUMMIN’ 'ECK this thing is blowing up in view count…
It was a very different experience for me and it was, not gonna lie, very challenging… in 5 years of making music for media (yes I started when i was 15… 5 years on I still class myself an “amateur” lol) all of my projects I have had have always had dialogue… this one didn’t.
I was kinda spooked… no dialogue?! Now, thankfully the directors I work with have THAT much trust in me that they tell me to “go bonkers”, and that was the case here…
I actually grew up watching a lot of cartoons (and I mean a LOT of them, both UK and american cartoons alike, although I’m 20 I watched a lot of the old stuff because thats just what my family was like) so I looked at them for guidance while figuring out how to put it into my style (which I can’t really describe tbh lol)
This is one of those films that will make you laugh and cry and I actually hired 2 musicians which were a guitarist & a violinist, because I remember Christian saying about how real instruments have the ability to make people cry. I applied that to this, just because I was really wanting it to be even more emotional, and… OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS GRAVY FROM THE GRAVY POT HE’S RIGHT… it premiered a couple days ago, and reading the comments made me smile, it made (and still continues to make) a lot of people cry…
I think that is an achievement, I’m still learning media scoring, so to hear that it made people cry makes me feel so happy because I feel like I did my job right! ^^
anyway, hope anyone finds this either inspirational or motivational because I wanted to share this news with the community.
