Absolute beginner looking for pointers

Hi! I saw the advert for the “Filth” electric piano sounds and OMG I’m blown away… I do play a little on a very simple Casio digital piano, and I am technical, but I know ABSOLUTELY zero about where to start with digital music, I need some pointers  and I’d love to play with that Filth sound engine, god it sounds stunning.

I know I could just youtube it but I want something a bit more human, so humbly asking if someone fancies giving me some custom pointers to a good place to start … thank you kindly!!

Best,
Justin

HI Justin, happy to help if I can. I suppose basically the main things to have are a computer, a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) Like Logic, Pro Tools, Ableton, Cubase, Reason etc ( some of these are more expensive than others but there are some free ones out there too), A midi keyboard/controller and an audio interface/soundcard with midi in/out connections although some work with usb connectors. Then it’s just a case of installing/downloading the software… Kind regards, Gabriel

Hi Justin,

I basically agree with what Gabriel said above. That’s the basics. Get a computer, a DAW, an audio interface, and a midi keyboard. Install and off you go. If you are inclined towards learning from a person rather then from YouTube, maybe find a tutor who can teach you the basics of the DAW you choose, and answer your questions.

If you have any more specific question, just let us know. I bet there is a ton of people here happy to help out however we can, me included

Cheers!
Merlin
