Code Meter Problems

Anybody else having issues with Codemeter and the licenses for Murmurations and Small Strings? I install the library, and it goes through the authorization process and works nicely for a day or two. Then something happens with Codemeter… trying to reauthorize? And then I’ll open Logic and I get “There was a problem with a plugin, try to Recover or Quit.” This happens with 1 track, when instantiating Murmurations or Small Strings. So, out of frustration, I have to uninstall them and go without. It’s a huge flow killer when I open a cue from a day or two ago and it locks up because of this issue.

I’ve run a support ticket, and we didn’t figure anything out. I’m assuming it’s something to do with my particular computer because I’m not seeing anyone else complain about this. Virharmonic uses Codemeter too, and I have the same issue with their instruments.

Anyone seen this? Or have ideas what could causing Codemeter to lose the connection?

Brian, Yes, I’ve been dealing with the “Recover or Quit” dialog as well. Currently, I can’t have any instantiations of Crow Hill instruments (although the Vault stuff works fine) using LogicPro 10.8.1 - I know they are trying to figure it out but no solution yet - I’m confident they will because they are such a caring company… Love the software but, in the meantime, not able to use it right now… I miss it.

Ok, good to know it’s not specific to my computer. I’m on Logic 11.0.1 and it’s still happening. That’s a bummer.

I guess if I REALLY need the Crow Hill stuff I’ll have to load it up in Pro Tools.

Please do reach out to customer support.
Crow Hill Support does not monitor these channels so you will always get a faster reply by emailing.

Yeah, I’ve worked with support a couple times, and we didn’t really fix anything beyond re-installing and re-authorizing. I did hear from Virharmonic that it’s a known issue with Codemeter that they’re aware of and hoping to get fixed.

I had the same problem. Running from MacOs. What fixed the problem for me, with help from support, is to check WIBU AG in login items under system settings.

Hopefully it’ll do the trick for you as well.

Hi Brian,
Maybe it’s specific to Logic? As an FL Studio user I don’t see this problem occurring.

Regards,
Ali.

It’s not Logic-specific, this has happened to me multiple times and I use Digital Performer 11 (Mac Studio M1 Ultra, Ventura, fresh install in January of this year). A complete un/reinstall will have TCHC plugs working for somewhere between 4 hours and 2 days, but then CM decides that I don’t have any valid licenses (sometimes in the middle of a session) and shuts everything down again.

I finally just had to uninstall all of my Crow Hill plugins and wait for the eventual availability of a different (hopefully more customer-focused) DRM alluded to by CH in one of his VI-C posts (where he said that his head had been “done in.”)

Codemeter has been problematic for me for years on other products and is now on my “never buy products that use this” list. While I know a lot of people don’t have problems with it, a lot of us do and nobody seems to have any idea why it just hates some of us.

Well, that’s annoying to hear. Glad to hear CH is aware and there might be hope for the future. Guess I won’t be buying anything new for a bit. Hopefully Virharmonic gets on the bandwagon too.

Just wanted to follow up on this… after working through it with Support again, they had me install Nocturnal Gestures… it has a new version of CodeMeter that seems to have fixed this issue for me. I’m unclear if you can just get that version on its own? But, it fixed my Virharmonic plugs with the same system as well.

I’m on CodeMeter v 8.00a now.

Hello!

Have you looked at the authentication model at Audiothing (https://www.audiothing.net)? Very smooth and no need for any external software. You can authorise it on-line or offline. Once and you are done.

I had NO problems with this. Much better than solutions like Codemeter. I among many others do not like software being installed and mandated to run to use the plugin. I have been lucky so far, no problems with Codemeter.

Regards,

Niclas

Update… the 8.0 “fix” has relapsed. Having the same issue still.

Updated to Sequoia hoping it might fix this issue. Nope. Codemeter still randomly dumps my activations and I’m dead in the water. I can’t even count how many times I’ve reinstalled all my VIs that use Codemeter.

Please oh please Crow Hill, dump Codemeter and use something that works, and has ALWAYS worked. iLok comes to mind, or the way Spectrasonics does it. I just want to use the great sounds that I paid for!

They have a solid solution. Crow Hill, please look into it.

have you guys tried running stuff in rosetta? for us M apple users, logic used to give me A LOT of problems with some plug ins, turns out if you run it in rosetta it stops acting up for many things

I don’t want to cripple the available CPU power by running in Rosetta, and I’m doubtful that would fix this issue anyway.

logic doesn’t really change that much in rosetta tbh for what I can recall and also it solves A LOT of plug in problems… you should try it

Nonstop problems with this damn Codemeter garbage. Plus it takes my Mac Studio forever to Boot up. Once I delete Codemeter, no more issue, except that these Libraries now aren’t working. I’m a working film composer and I’ve never had any issues like I’ve been having with these Libraries so I’m going to stop using them. Not cool.
