I’ve a couple of comments to feed back from my own perspective, but maybe I’m on my own. Let’s see…
I’m fine with all of the UI for Crow Hill instruments, except for the concentric staggered wheels for cc1 and cc11. Does anyone else have to look at these for several seconds just to get it clear what’s going on? Maybe its just me, but I’d have preferred a couple of vertical sliders with the value above or below. It wouldn’t be as ‘arty’ but it’d be much easier to grasp at a glance.
I think the Blagsheets are great. I’d even consider printing and framing them if they were on a white background, but now that ink seems to cost more than the printer I’d be reluctant to print them out in green on dark grey. How about some ‘easy on the printer ink’ versions?
[BTW, based on some great sounds in Christian’s demo video I’ve just grabbed Cello Motors, so I’m looking forward to trying that in my latest sync project].
agree on the wheels: very bad UX. Probably a left over from the Spitfire era. They use the same stupid concept and are only useful when you have an external MIDI controller with enough faders. Good luck using this with only a keyboard and mouse attached…
For the posters: find a local print shop that does digital prints.
I had other posters (not by CH) printed on A2 format in full colour and each was 3,– EUR a piece on 200g paper. The result looks great and crispy, colours don’t fade over time. Their printers can handle the resolution and should be much cheaper than wasting your precious ink.
Those blag sheets also use ridiculous tiny fonts which an inkjet might mot be able to reproduce anyway, Another demo of why I don’t believe Crow Hill designers have the skills required to actually design interfaces in ways that are useable by all demographics… website and plugin UIs also lack basic accessibility.
As long as somebody at CH things the designs are “pretty” who cares if they’re useable and accessible It’s not as if they have any positive impact on the sound quality.
Thanks for the comment, Graz. Nice to see people on forums who are able to express their preferences and opinions without resulting to being rude. I’ll pass your comment on to the design team.
As for the Blagsheets, you could save your self hassle and printer ink visiting out merch store. All our Blagsheets are available to purchase there.
