Is this what we want?

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Thoughts?

I confess I hadn’t seen it. But it seems to me as an outsider yet student of history that the question is almost rhetorical, seeing how fools in power so rarely demonstrate any care or concern for what us mere serfs do or don’t want.

Great concept of recording the empty spaces!

Good idea, shit marketing. I was unable to find any recognisable name (I care for) on this list either. Only those who make music will eventually learn and care about it, t0o, but it won’t be them to make a change.
I wish them (and us eventually) luck!

It’s interesting they put their campaign on Spotify of all places, the largest vulture in the industry, with record labels being the majority share holders who are fine with this “remixability” as long as LABELS still make money.
I won’t be able to listen to the full “album” (beyond the 10s intros) 'cos I refuse to use Spotify and alike and support the talents I care for buying their merch, physical media, or buy their music via sites like Bandcamp.

Jane and Joe Average incl. their doom scrolling kids will never learn about it, so nobody with relevant influence (== consumer money) will even be able to give a shit. The same inattentive “audience” already doesn’t bother about auto tuned and pitch corrected vocals.
Most music consumers are happy to be lazy and pay streaming services a tenner or more a months to deliver “background noise” for them to consume. Not to truly listen and enjoy but to consume in the same way they consume the piss from Starbucks.

Those consumers are already happy to be ignorant about how streaming businesses à la Spotify affects musician’s income so they’ll be equally ignorant about any AI shenanigans, even if they say they won’t “like it” if asked. Most wouldn’t be able to tell he difference anyway.

Next Bandcamp Friday is on March 7th by the way: 100% revenue for the artists, not just some fraction of a cent or penny for a lousy stream.

Cheers.
