Piano Day is celebrated each year on the 88th day of the year, inspired by the 88 keys of the piano. it was started by Nils Frahm - there’s a site that they created for it pianoday.org
Does anyone want to do something to celebrate Piano Day?
And does anyone have any ideas on what we could do collectively to celebrate?
An idea I had was:
Anyone who is interested contributes something in celebration and it’s simply shared here within the forum: music you wrote, a poem, a sketch or a, video or photograph. All piano related and that you would happy is sitting in the public forum.

Just for ideas - here’s info about what I’m organising in our village.
The exact format of the event will depend on how many pianos are able to take part (so far 6 + the piano at government house), but there are two possible options:
-
A Piano Trail – where I visit participating pianos around the village for short, informal moments of music
-
An online Piano Relay – a relaxed Zoom or Google Meet event where participants each play briefly from their own space
Part of the day will also include a visit to the Lieutenant Governor’s residence (Government House) to play the grand piano they have there. The details of that are currently being worked out 
Then, here, on the Isle of Man 2026 is the Year of the Manx Language - so alongside this and in the run‑up to the day, I’ll be sharing Manx (Gaelg) words and phrases helping people on the island (myself included!) become more familiar with Manx vocabulary connected to music and the piano!
This event is not a concert, and there is no expectation of performance, rehearsal, or an audience - from anyone.
The focus is simply on connection, participation, and making space for music in our everyday community life in Ballaugh - and maybe learn some Manx words along the way.
Piano Day in Manx would be Laa Pianney

im probably gonna spend my day with my piano now that i have it home! hahaha but the discord is available if you wanna have like an open videocall channel! we can have one of the voice channels be the piano day place for everyone to join and chat and play some stuff
if i manage to organize myself properly i might release my piano as a sample instrument that day

How about no talking and just piano music for the call? We could relay between whoever is online?

ooooh yes that would be awesome!!! we got 2 voice channels we could have one just for piano and one for chatting running at the same time
Okay great - let’s get an idea of how many people would be keen to play something on the day so that we can work out the format of the live playing. i.e. if it’s lots of people - then some scheduling or a queue of some kind might be needed, but if it’s just a few, then its a case of anyone, any time - free for all.
Does that sound good?
