Hello. For my New Year’s Resolution I want to try and create an instrument for Pianobook each month (yes, AudioIncubator - but like Twitter being called ‘X’ it’s still Twitter to me.) So, I’m an a noobie. If I look at a recording I made of a wine glass (a wine glass! Go you with your inventiveness. Yes, thank you. You’re welcome.)
I tend to get this. Is this an overtone? It sounds… awful? Any advice?

I’m new to the sampling game myself, I once sampled my fridge for pianobook (I’m not even kidding either), but Christian actually made a useful tutorial about sampling a wine glass which I very much recommend but for a brief rundown.
You could EQ out the low end, and keep the “overtone” (which is E5), and use that as a starting point. as opposed to the F4. According to Christian, getting rid of the overtone just causes there to be a lack of top end.
(also I call Pianobook pianobook still too so you’re not on your own lol)
Thanks.
I was also wondering whether the sample should be centred to the given note, or on the bottom of where it starts. I’ve seen both.
