Yea the CS-80V and Cherry Audio are nice but can’t hold a candle to the real thing…Plus you know Crow Hill would do it right…Christian takes good care of “Sherlock” from the looks of it, I cringe every time I see a video of Mike Dean lighting a blunt 2 inches from the keybed of his CS-80  …not that I wouldn’t do the same thing, but I would at least use a vape…LOL I say layer the CS-80 with the beloved Roland SuperSaw and that Colossus…If they do another “celebrity” library, Mike Dean would actually be a VERY good choice…If not him, then Lisa Bella Donna from Moog…LOL

A few years old now, but a challenge at the time for a first time director with a vision.

Hey guys! I wanted to share this, I found this video of my first performance of my first official piece I wrote. I was so happy to find this video and wanted to share it with the fellowship! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILJm1XNpVVY

I made a silly video from the chat we had for the show and tell from yesterdays podcast and if anyone wants a laugh here you go! (Funny actually because the artist who created the character representing Christian actually did this art for another project I’m actually putting together but thats for another time lol)

Hi everyone! I’m an Ondes Martenot player from Vienna, Austria.

Here is a video of me playing a piece by Olivier Messiaen, accompanied by Glass Strings and Marshal Brass.

Nicely done Robert! These instruments work well together. I was thinking the Ondes Martenot reminded me of a mournful bird and went to look up Olivier Messiaen as I didn’t know of him before, and I note that he was an ornithologist as well as composer. So maybe he was thinking of birdsong when he wrote this. :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi Robert. I totally agree with Alistair, your performance was nicely done and worked well with the subtle accompaniment. The sound cabalities of the Ondes Martenot makes this an interesting thought provoking composition. This is a mysterious sounding instrument. Does it offer vibrato sensitivity to key pressure when you play the instrument?

Yes, there’s a lot of birdsong in Messiaen, mainly in the piano pieces. He wrote a whole “Catalog of Birds” where he translated specific examples of birdsong into piano pieces. His big piece – the Turangalila Symphony – features both piano (representing birdsong and gamelan) and Ondes Martenot (echoes of the devine) as solo instruments.

Thanks Michael! The special thing about the ondes is that there are two totally sepatate ways of playing. The first one (used in this video) is ruban, where you slide a ring attatched to a string up and down for a continuous glissando, the second one clavier, the monophonic keyboard, which does have vibrato, but not as aftertouch, but as lateral movement. The entire keyboard moves left and right, creating a pitch bend of maximally one or two half notes. This makes it possible to play a note with one finger and use a movement similar to the one on the cello to create vibrato. I will post a new video soon where you can see this in action!

I’m quite pleased with this one. It started life as participation in an exercise in writing music for factual entertainment as part of a video series by our own Christian Henson. I think the relevant videos are still on TCHC channel and my versions are on my own Youtube channel and is linked here too. The composition then morphed into a demo for John Meyers excellent Steinway Grand pack from Pianobook. That instrument takes pride of place in the released version too. I’ve posted the streaming links in the ‘Share Your Music’ topic.

Let me know what you think.

I just released a new song. It’s called Venom Test. That was the working title which kinda stuck. I hadn’t worked on any new music for almost a year and then the Crow Hill x Snakes of Russia instrument came out, I got so inspired by it that I made a song around it. Also features a healthy slab of Dot Allison Dulcet Voice. Would love to know what you guys think.

This track was created using only CHC instruments apart from one instance of a drone created by me from a field recording. It was my first use of the Vaults Rhythm Machine and also leans heavily on Tina Guo Storm Cello for creation of insect-like sounds. Sorry if I am droning on …..

It ain’t much, but it’s something alright. I dabbled in atmospheric music for my first ever composition that’ll be in a legit game.

Although this doesn’t have CHC instruments in the final version, there are a couple of unused Circuit Drums patterns in the FLP that I felt were a bit much for this kind of thing.

Hi all,

I just published a track featuring solely Marshal Brass, for anyone interested. It’s a contemplative piece. It seemed the right time of year for it. Best enjoyed with a warm beverage.

Cheers

My submission for last month’s cuetube challenge. I used mostly vocal libs on this, but the intro uses TCHC Marshal Brass.

Past post was to the playlist it was in. This post is just the song. My mistake.

I make dark nightmare-ish ambient with my own style of beat structure that I have been using for the past 15 years. The song in this video is called Dark Decent. It was made this year and it is one of my all time favorites.
