So… um… about a month ago I actually showed off how I used Studio Drums from Vaults in a more cinematic context as opposed to the context it should be used in.
It’s VERY simple & basic yet effective… only piece of advice… um… be careful when using the kick bass drum using this method… you will mud up the bottom end very quickly… also it’s recorded in Audacity because my toaster of a laptop that I call Toastertop 3000 can’t handle me screen recording in Reaper ;-;
I like to sometimes use instruments in a TOTALLY different way… it’s me being pragmatic with my stuff… since, for the most part, I use completely free libraries (my friend helped me buy Small String Gestures, which I am forever grateful for, and Circuit Drums I got when it first dropped for free for 48 hours.)
Hi
Since I fall in love with crowhill vaults and small strings I’ve prepared setup for live playing on reaper. Here You can see some small live session created with small strings, vaults: guitar, celeste.
Here’s a video from a project from a few years back. I wrote the arrangements for the tunes that featured strings - the project featured the compositions of Tadd Dameron. This was recorded before I realized I needed to learn how to use DAWs
For something new from me, that uses the Celesteaphone and Strings from the Crowhill Vaults, listen to the soundtrack to the film - Meet The Metahumans. Here’s some cues in binaural and a trailer and a BTS.
Film is out end of 2024 and at film festivals in the UK and USA in 2025.
The following video contains music I composed to a public domain short film. I created the music as well as edited the film to create a different sequence of scenes from the original.
Hey, I just wanted to share my little Instagram Reel introduction to Concussion Drums. Just what I put together on the day I got it. Would love it if you’d take a look, it’s a really fun library to work with! I’ve attached the full demo below. Thanks!
My name is Dan Sullivan, and I love what Christian and his team have started building here, (I think I have managed to buy nearly every one of their instruments so far… eek!)
Last year I was involved in a project which culminated in three wonderful days spent in residence at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.
In its current form, the piece we recorded is too long, which is in part due to the inclusion of video montage that straddles its outro guitar solo, plus a series of ‘in-studio’ clips of those involved in the recording session.
Despite being relatively amateur in its presentation, the feedback from the video has been encouraging, with many people confiding that the songs’ theme is something that they have directly experienced, and in fact watching it brought a tear to their eye.
Because of this I would really like to explore the possibility of a shorter, orchestrated version of the song, but because I personally don’t have the necessary skill set to take it in this direction, I was wondering if anyone in the network might, after watching it through, be compelled to take part in the next chapter of its development.
The video is hosted on the Vimeo platform, (and please feel free to share)
One of our Tortoises, Harry, on his way home to his little house in the bushes. Used my Burns guitar, played some bass, again used some Crow Hill Company plugins, Dot Allison - Dulcet Voice, Murmurations and Piano Rack; that sounds great on guitars! The rest is Native instruments bits and bobs.
