Lol… only just downloaded Pocket Strings and now have 29 minutes left to compose something before the deadline… don’t think I’m going to manage this one. Nevertheless, have been trying out Pocket Strings over last 5 minutes and am v impressed… Well done CHC team!
Thank you! There are some really great entries and I really enjoyed the vibe of your one.(post deleted by author)
Good Evening all!
Here is my submission, just emailed it over to Crow Hill! Only managed to start it at 3pm But I guess that’s the point of the challenge! Was interesting to have to organise and motivate myself differently to get it done in a short time. Hopefully the result is ok!
As per rules only used pocket strings and logic FX was pretty much only eq and distortion in the odd place. And a big reverb of course (sparingly I hope!!)

Composition-wise, i really like it as for all, given more time and fx i’m sure we would all have a great mix
Well done!
Nice job! I like where the theme with the staccatos, well thought!
This is a nice one, i found myself back in old dungeon and dragons video games in a boss battle nicely done especially since you started it today!!
Well done folks for posting your amazing pieces of work on this forum today. I could feel a sense of urgency of everyone trying to get something in before the deadline. We had a little bit of a laugh today and now everyone can just relax. Take some deep breaths in and out, in and out. So now let’s just enjoy the ride and chill a bit and wait for Christian to announce the outcome. Here is my entry, it’s simple and not up to your standards but I hope you enjoy it.
No one put a standard, no worries. We were all rushed by that challenge and given more time of work all the entries could become wonderful pieces.
Your track is very good, i like the ambience, especially from 2’22 a subtle but nice built up
Thanks for your kind comment Matt.
Amazing Leigh, you eventually got it finished on time. I like the end section in particular from I think 2:23 seconds where the tempo speeds up. Well done,
I don’t know if you managed to complete and submit anything for this competition because I was looking forward to hearing what you have done. I hope you have.
Some very good entries here, considering the short time frame. Pocket strings is nice, I love the new Crow Hill GUI.
Here’s my effort! Battled through the latest strain of covid to create this; only to fall asleep and miss the deadline!
Bummer on the missed deadline. Very distinctive.
It’s amazing what everyone has done in the time, and smashing it as well! So many great pieces of work and brilliant approaches. And such positive attitude in the thread too.
I don’t know how the team will pick a winner, but I think everyone has earned a Mars bar at least
Sorry to hear you were ill Kev. Hope you are on the mend now. Regardless of deadlines etc, that was an interesting piece you’ve made… Quite atmospheric and tense.
Hi Michael,
Sadly, real world events kept me busy elsewhere so by the time I downloaded the Pocket Strings I realised I had just 29 minutes left to complete and submit an entry . So, nothing from me on this occasion.
I do like the instrument though so I will give it a go just for the hell of it after next weekend when I get a bit more time. Thank you for your kind words though .
That was lovely Michael. Made me think of a beautiful sunrise or a sweeping aerial shot over a majestic landscape…
Well done everyone, All the pieces are brilliant giving the short time scale ( real world composing ). I read earlier what Christian wrote about these not been composer competitions were we are all pitted against one another, but composer challenges. Which I agree completely with, The sense of community spirit and generosity on Crow hill is wonderful. Sorry to here you were ill Kev, I’ve got shingles at the moment, I guess been ill and having to work to a dead line is another real world scenario, which brings me to my next point. My piece is another composition reimagined, just did not have the energy to start a new piece, hope this is ok as I’m sure this is another real world scenario
Thank you to everyone including all the wonderful people at crow hill for the amazing hard work putting season two together.
Michael
