For those who may be interested, my latest album has just hit streamers. Here’s a link to it on Spotify. Have a listen if you get a chance.
I just released a short new track for anyone who’s interested. I’m afraid it’s not using any Crow Hill instrument this time: Stream Aimlessly by Jean-Loup R Smith | Listen online for free on SoundCloud
A little piano/strings/percussion piece just completed.
There’s so much cool and interesting stuff people are doing on here well worth checking it all out ![]()

Little bit of Celestatone on this but track is mainly about the bassline (my Warwick 5-string) and some stripped back beats.
For this track i used mostly the Small String Gestures but also in between the String Murmurations.

A little ditty I recently done using Nocturnal and Small String Gestures, String Murmurations, Dot Alison Dulcet Voice and Concussion Drums to beef up a Pocket Operator beat. Keys Yamaha Reface CP and a bit of guitar for atmospherics!
This is spectacular!
Kind words Chris, thank you so much!
Hello All,
I’ve wanted to share my music for some time and I’m just getting around to it.
My biggest motivation for sharing is I NEEEEEEEDDDD FEEDBACK. I know I’m not the world’s greatest composer. I have a background in bands and writing music so I get writing music, but I’m desperately trying to improve as a composer. Or maybe for someone to tell me I don’t suck as bad as I think.
Here is my website:
https://hypermusestudios.com/
There are videos there with my original scores. If you have the time feel free to give them a listen. If you are so gracious as to give some feedback, let me have it. Thank you so much for the time.
Also feel free to follow up here or over on Instagram.
Hi James,
I hope all is well!
Absolutely loved your compositions to “Reborn” and “A Score for Christmas”! The music really enveloped me into the world of the visuals and spoken word. For someone who does spoken word myself, this vibe was something I was really into. “Reborn” felt so ethereal and immersive. However, I have the slightest, smallest bit of feedback for “Reborn”. I personally felt the music ended a tiny bit too soon. I definitely get where you were headed with the sudden full stop at the end and I think that fit the scene and cinematics perfectly. But I simply felt like the music was in the middle of a phrase when it suddenly stopped. I don’t consider myself an expert at any rate, so feel free to completely ignore what I’m saying. But I personally feel that if the music did a crescendo as it did and stayed on that one note instead of changing halfway at 0:57, I feel it would have had a better resolution at the end while still giving that sudden full stop feel. Again, your composition was great, so please don’t take what I said as overshadowing the amazing work that you have done. I’m just really thinking down to the fine details at the moment. For “A Score for Christmas”, the subtle nuances in the music were incredible and very emotional. I was sucked into the storytelling. I especially loved the emotional feel of the piano at 2:14 as the music faded away, really beautiful!
I hope the feedback I’ve provided helps!
Hi everyone!
I literally just released my latest dual single, “Bourne”, today. I’ve been delving into a more minimalistic approach with my music. I simply enjoy the emotional vibe that it conveys. The first track, “Bourne”, has an ambient, ethereal vibe. The second track, “Honest”, has a bit of a Nu-Folk, traditional music vibe. I’ve fallen in love with the music shared on The Crow Hill Company podcast - specifically from Zoë Bestel and the Tom Campbell Trio.
I hope you enjoy! And as always, any and all feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated!

After goodness knows how long I return with (in my opinion) an absolute banger!
This contains a voice actor too, so you understand the context of this track basically this is a fanmade version of a theme for a game / anime character called Neptune, she breaks the 4th wall a lot and isn’t exactly the brightest either, hence the comedic nature of this piece. I used Circuit Drums and Vaults Studio Drums on this in conjunction with a few other products too.
Feedback is appreciated as always
New track using Small String Gestures and Dulcet Tones in a few places. Loving the variations you can drive with Small String Gestures (be great to have budget for String Murmurations): https://on.soundcloud.com/rB8kGcqR197weqwHA
Another little ditty! I should add, One of our Tortoises, Harry, on his way home to his little house in the bushes. Burns guitar, played some bass, again used some Crow Hill Company plugins, Dot Allison - Dulcet Voice, Murmurations and Piano Rack; that sounds great on guitars! The rest is Native instruments bits and bobs.
Back to the Attic by KG. Intended to be my entry for The Crow Hill Company Attic Grand Composer Challenge, until I read the brief correctly; ‘Your piece should only feature the Attic Grand’. Hopefully I can salvage an Attic Grand piano lament with its departure from the Vaults???
Instruments, The Crow Hill Company Vaults: Attic Grand x2, Small String Gestures, Nocturnal Gestures x3, Piano Rack and the rest consist of Native Instruments: Guarneri and Stradivari Violins, Amati Viola, and Stradivari Cello, and Spitfire Audio: LABs - Cello Moods and Frozen Strings, and Abbey Road One: Legendary Low Strings. Video is bad quality footage of the sunshine through a glass on the arm of a bench.
Composed this mix between cinematic and 90s music using only Vaults (Chorus Synth, Attic Grand, Studio Drums, Shimmer Guitar) and Small String Gestures (the “Ponticello Adjacent” patch)
Happy listening!
(I called it Goofball’s Groove btw)
That is lovely Betty.
You don’t suck, that’s for sure James. ![]()
