I forgot to show this off but for Halloween I composed this horror esque track, it also has a bit of action in there too. Features the new Orchestral FX from Vaults… I used everything in that pack (from the drone, to the creepy pizz plucks to the string STABS). Oh, I also used Cosmos for some extra synthy goodness too. Also features a bit of a violin library I made myself too (its the solo violin that goes from normale into a tremolo sound… I called it Shuddered Reality) :3

Feedback appreciated, also if you like the mini story that goes along with it, I have a lot of stuff coming in that regard too!
(VIDEO CONTAINS FLASHING IMAGES, AND IF YOU ARE SQUEAMISH IT CONTAINS BLOOD TOO.)

Hey ya’ll, I’m really proud of this so I had to share it somewhere. I recorded a birds nest before and after a storm and inter spliced the recordings with ambient mixes I made during the storm. It was sad to see the birds weren’t there when I got back (although I’m sure they just flew away nothing too dramatic) but I thought the silence and it all made for quite a naturally-occuring-emotional-submetaphorical-poetic whatever you wanna call it piece.https://josephjoise.bandcamp.com/album/for-the-birds

Hi. I loved the recent Attic Grand composing challenge. I actually had the original musical idea for my submission when I was noodling on the guitar and then made a piano piece out of it for the challenge. But I still was intrigued to develop a full guitar based version of it too. And here they both are side by side.

Hi all. Glad to be here and to share. This is a wee instrumental release from last year. Cheers

@christianhenson - this features my very first Pianobook offering, ‘Taped Piano’ that you also did a version of (albeit a better one!)

I wrote this piece last year in December and set the challenge to finish before midnight of the 31st. I was late by 15sec…but nevertheless, considered the goal achieved. About that time I just came across Vaults, included their first instruments in it and dedicated to Christian, as a token of my appreciation.https://soundcloud.com/v-tech-117424998/farewell-to-the-old-year

Hello All,
I’d like to share links to a track I’ve just released into the wild. Although there are no Crow Hill Company instruments on it, there is (as with almost everything I write) offerings from Pianobook/AudioInc. In this case Kai-Anders Ryan’s ‘Yamaha U1’ features prominently.
Many Thanks.

Very nice, Lee. I really enjoyed that. Also very inspiring!

Hi Jorey
Thank you so much for listening, and for your positivity

My best friend’s daughter was born a few months ago. I wrote a lullaby for her.
Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Recorded with East/West opus libraries in LOGIC

Thanks,
Jorey

Hi Jorey,
Have you set the instruments on the “Classic” or “Soft”? Since this is a lullaby, I would go with soft mode, which is more delicate and use more of the expression/mod wheels, to create gradual rise and diminishing effect on instruments. I would also extend this a little. You have a nice intro but it feels like the story could go on for just a bit longer.

Thanks for your reply, v-tech

To quote our Christian Henson, “every day’s a school day”.

As a beginner to sample libraries, it never dawned on me to
use the “soft” mode for this piece, even though I knew about
the different choices.
Also, as a beginner to Logic and composing in general, I have a lot to learn.
Well presented, constructive criticism is always appreciated.

Thanks again,
Jorey

Please don’t take this as criticism. I also own a copy EW Opus, hence my suggestion. I tried to imagine a lullaby as short story, which by nature suppose to be soft and calming. Mod wheels can do magic too and can make any instrument more delicate and emotional. You can also draw or write expression curves on the track which was already recorded and see if that suits your idea.

All the best

No worries, my friend. I took it as constructive feedback.
It’s important to learn from those with more experience.
That’s why I’m here.

Once again, Thank you for your thoughts!
Jorey

A synth/drone soundtrack EP for a sci-fi horror film that doesn’t exist.

There’s a story of sorts in the track descriptions, but hopefully the music implies a narrative on its own.

These tracks were partly inspired by techniques I tried for recent composing challenges (Attic Grand and Orchestral FX).

Last year, I decided to dive into composing orchestral music, a dream I’ve had since childhood. Growing up, my mom would sit me in front of the radio, tuning into the classical stations or indulging in her favorite Yanni album “live at the acropolis”, and those moments sparked a lifelong love for music. I’ve always dreamed of making a living through music, and last year, I made a promise to myself: no matter what, I’d find a way to earn an income through my passion, even if it’s just part-time.

Right now, I’m hustling hard. By day, I work as a 3D Designer, and by night, I’m chasing every opportunity I can find. Recently I’ve been composing for small indie video games, creating music for weddings, and scoring online videos. The transition from drumming in punk and metal bands to composing and arranging has been incredibly rewarding. Every day, I learn something new, and it’s been uplifting to connect with amazing communities of like-minded creators. Not everyday is smooth but it’s a journey of passion, one that i must chase.

If you’d like to check out my music, here’s a link to my work: choose whatever platform suits you best! I’d love your feedback, whether it’s advice on how to improve my craft or tips for finding more opportunities.

I wrote this like 4 years ago?! and it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long! :open_mouth: if I’m not wrong I did this with Albion ONE only, which was my first big library, this was during covid times I think I was learning to compose orchestral music more seriously then

Just when you think it’s all gone horribly awry the sheer, stark power of mathematics drags it all, inexorably, back together …

Happy Holidays to all - whatever you are celebrating. And have a great 2025.
