Thunderous and dreamy, soothing and stirring. If Sigur Ros made Agaetis Byrjun today I reckon it might sound like that. The way the instruments fit together is just seamless, great production. Thanks so much for sharing, Kev.
Joyous music with a soulβ¦ what else could we want in the heat..? Donβt know who or what you used as a drummer, but he, she or it are swinging their thumb off with that wonderfully constructively busy left hand (assuming righty). Thanks for sharing, mate.
Yeah, gorgeous is the word for this, as ever with your work, Ali. Thereβs a palpable sense of tension that conveys that βwaitingβ concept to me. Thanks as ever.
Thank you so much Stephen, such kind words! Sigur Ros has to be one of the most memorable gigs I had the privilege to experience!
Thanks for such kind words Steve! Iβm glad the piece worked for you. All the best!
Another creation influenced by the DOW UAP files drop. With the recent heatwave in the UK, this one came over a little bit Dub style!
A few Crow Hill instruments in this one, full details in the video description. And again, sorry for the primitive visuals as I delve into DaVinci Resolve.
Stay Tuneful!!
I just call it as I see it, mate. Yeah, can understand reaction to Sigur Ros. Saw them tour in support of Aegis Byrjun and later playing Takk. Incomparable.
2005 at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall with Amina in support, stunning! Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do is one of my favourite recordings!
2000 at the QE Hall London (one of my favourite venues; have seen a lot of jazz there too) and 2005 at Brixton Academy. At the latter they went from Hoppipolla and the linked Med Blodnasir (my favourites) from Takk into Olsen Olsenβ¦. audience went more than a little nuts!
@KG70 this sounds really solid! The stereo mixing is really cool. Well done
Thank you so much Noah; I appreciate your time and ears!
Stay Tuneful!
Nice one, Kev! Seems darker and more threatening than Fireflies II, which contrasts nicely with the almost whimsical description of βsnowflakesβ by the pilot. I think that Dub feeling comes not only from the timing of the beat but also from your βdrummerβ channeling Carly Barrett. Bass sounds more like Robbie Shakespeare than βFamily Manβ though, with all that sub-bass. Thanks for sharing. ![]()
Thank you so much Stephen! I think the timbre of the voice drew a sinister aspect, and possibly the notion that not all βsnowflakesβ are friendly
! The dub feel may also be, whenever the sun shines, I reach for my old faithful listen, A Dub Experience by Sly & Robbie. And as for that drummer, itβs just me, a mouse, and the odd bit of finger drumming! As I like to say, I appreciate your time and ears; Stay Tuneful!
Thatβs a great album, Kev. Many years ago somebody played me the original vinyl version of Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle, but thatβs as rare as henβs teeth and the transfers to other media (mainly CD) are pretty dire. Your fingers are pretty good, mate. ![]()
A short cue for a sunny day - the result of playing the new Harmonic Piano Vault.
This was a really fun one @ed.harper ! I could see that being in a commercial
Back down to earth after all the brilliant tracks Iβve heard here as I share another step on my journey into writing and arranging music. I thought I might gain some insight from writing outside my comfort zone of jazz and fusion. So here is a kinda acoustic folk instrumental. As before, using LMMS as the DAW and only free instruments and effects. These include the Vaults Harmonium and Dulcet Vocal plus 12-String Acoustic, Lewis E Pyle Violin and Uncle Johnβs 5-String Banjo from Pianobook. I enjoyed writing it, maybe youβll enjoy listeningβ¦.![]()
Itβs not just the aesthetics of the piece that I enjoyed Ed, but that you adapted to a never-before-heard instrument so quickly! You must have understood the dynamics and controls of the instrument very well to produce that (fun, as Noah said) piece. That amazes me. Thanks for sharing.
My latest creation!
Stay Tuneful!!!
