Wavering Choir Composing Challenge (CLOSED)

A delicate and frosty texture … Nicely done!

Many thanks  yes that’s right I spent the last year or so learning it from YouTube and practicing in the car or at home when no one was there to hear the initial rhasping and coughing noises :joy: thought it would be a cool thing to add sparingly.

It certainly was. You should submit recording of it for the audio ink library … Would make an interesting plugin. :+1:

That could be cool :sunglasses: perhaps a project to add to the list!

Evening everybody!

My submission for the Wintery composing challenge, using mainly Wavering Choir. I love listening to the other entries to these challenges which certainly get the creative juices flowing. It’s amazing how everyone interprets the brief in different ways.

Thanks again Crow Hill and wishing everybody a peaceful and fun holiday …

Good morning Everyone,
I almost skipped this challenge but I ended up with a free morning on the very last day. My DAW was an absolute mess of Midi, samples, and plugins, but I hope it highlights the Choir; I hope I did it justice. If anyone is interested in components of the song feel free to ask for details.

For the track I wanted to capture the feeling of a cold holiday morning of sledding, snowball fights, and hot chocolate; excitement overtaking frosty conditions and so on.

Hi folks, this one took me a little bit longer to complete than the previous one but here it is and I’d love to know what people think.

I spent a few winters in Finland, I like to think the memories of dark and cold days helped to come up with something meaningful…

The choral sounds reminded me of the school Xmas carol services we had - the thick harmonies. I did add a little bit of Dot Allison Dulcet Voice in there too

Here’s my go at a track using the Wavering Choir: ‘Winter Solstice’.

Happy Xmas all!

There’s some really good ones for this challenge. Maybe the crew can organize a live youtube listening party sometime.

The main idea was to create a kind of “textural choral freeze”.
And beneath it some motifs that could that could evoke a sense of nostalgia.

The instruments used, beside the wavering choir, was dulcitone (Vaults), a sine wave, TinaGuo Cello, Albion and recorded material.

This was composed for the Composing Challenge, Dec’24, for the The Crow Hill Company, where the newest and amazing Vaults Instrument “Wavering Choir” was featured.

This is my submission to the Wavering Choir Composing Challenge. I had composed this inspired by the Tamil movie (that won the Golden Palm, I think, in Canne) of two boy’s quest for pizza. The name of the movie is called ‘The Crow’s Egg’. I thought therefore it is an apt submission as well.

@fentiman2 Thanks :slight_smile:
Hope you have a wonderful Xmas!

Really enjoyed this Richard! It definitely had a very chilly winter feel and the choir sounded very full.

Thanks so much, @fentiman2 … Very kind of you to comment.

Hope you’re enjoying the Christmas-New Year hiatus!
