Although I’ve been DJing for the past 26 years I only added it to my name, when releasing music, because everytime I did an online search 'Steve Wariner’would pop up. Anyhoo, I’ve been writing electronic music since forever with a deep passion for adding orchestrated elements to each, in a cinematic way. I am not classically trained (except for watching 80’s TV and movies) and my only training in electronica is watching Jean Michel Jarre in ‘Redezvous Houston’ in 1986, on the old grey whistle test. Well that and the 26 years playing this stuff in clubs and pubs all over the UK, with a brief stint in Ibiza in 2006.
My biggest issue with starting on synths in 1986, apart from the prohibitive cost, was they were never regarded as true instruments. When samplers eventually hit the scene everything changed. I worked behind a bar in Destiny nightclub (Glasgow) in 1999 to 2005, to see what elements of a song impacted the dancefloor, moved onto lighting and fell into DJing (I’m still here).
Whilst working in a community Arts Project I was asked to put a concert proposal together for Glasgow City Council. A complete feasability study, stage design and a full track listing later, not to mention the Scottish Arts Council re-branding several times, GCC decided to put individual musicians in pubs instead of a large open air event. That killed everything. The passion. I moved onto community radio for 8 years and left, 2 years ago, to start writing again.
So here we are; I’ve released a few tracks through distrokid, so I’m available on spotify & whatever. My passion for writing is through the roof and I really want to know how to orchestrate and get into the mindset of the composer and hopeful incorporate that into my music.
I know what I do isn’t everyone’s cup of Tea, especially in Crow Hill, but I’d appreciate any feedback. This is a link to an unfinished work, if you are interested. Oh, and I am open to collaboration.
Probably because its a dropbox file (unfinished), sorry. If you right mouse click the player you can grab the link and dump it into your browser. Any issues give me a shout.
Hi Jean loup! Excellent, the desert atmosphere with the snake charmers is well felt. It’s like a Count of the Arabian Nights. It’s a beautiful music story
Hi Matt!
What an interesting EP. The ambience is really awesome. The Lyra is perfect companion for sort of things i see. I particualry like Polarise because i found it more “musical” comparing to the other but I also like the “fragility” from Mir.
Good job!
Hello, brief history about me.
I’m Rodrigo Noales (a.k.a. SonicByte) For years I’ve tried to succeed as a composer, without having any idea how to achieve it and I chose poorly. I published my music (in several styles: orchestral, cinematic, hybrid, EDM, Pop etc.) on stock sites without much success.
So after much frustration I decided to try creating music for film and video games. I managed to create my first soundtrack for an independent game and still trying to find my path. I’ll keep trying to work at this even if it’s part-time, I’m trying not to give up…
I’ll leave two albums here: One of them is from that video game and the other is a compilation of orchestral and cinematic music that I’ve created over time.
Hi everyone, fairly new composer here :). I started composing and learning last year and made a few tracks. Started to share online just recently
Just though it would be a good place to share my latest track, as i mostly used Tina Guo Storm cello for it. An awesome library, quality is amazing. Anyway hope you guys like it, cheers.
Requiem for the Endless
Hey everyone! My first song is officially out on all streaming platforms for piano day. It is definitely a minimal piece, but one of my favorites I have done: Unsupported browser
I decided to set myself a challenge this weekend, and to learn, and recreate the theme from the popular TV show “Severance” using ONLY Crow Hill Vaults instruments and effects… Been a while since I have played keyboards, and it shows. lol
I have found the Mallet Piano in Vaults to be my favorite new rhythmic tool and used it to generate the rhythmic elements for scoring a multimedia project that gave me a lot of flexibility with the scoring template. Paired with DAW effects like tape delays and low and high shelf filters, I was able to use the mallet piano to develop the cues over longer periods of time to accompany the visuals without obtrusion or distraction. “Big Picture Meditations,” gives a yoga studio on on Mars vibe throughout.
“Energy You Can Feel, But Cannot Touch,” is my first release from the project ahead of the April 18, release of “Corey’s Big Picture Meditations.” I hope you enjoy the track and the manner in which I used the Mallet Piano.
I remain, like many of us, quite excited to see what’s next at Crow Hill.
Here is a track in which I used a bunch of Crow Hill Plugins, including Cosmos, Vaults Amp Bass, Acid Synth & Wavering Choir, Demon Drop and Imperial Electric piano. The other guitars are Amplesound and there is a bit of BBC core in there too, but most strings are Cosmos. Pianorack FX was used a lot too. Here is the Soundcloud link as well. Also a shout to eveyone who helped me out on my Voiceover Artists post on the forum. Hope you enjoy!
