“Night on the mountain” - an experiment in trying to evoke a sense of place - in this case, a mountain-side after dark, just as the moon rises on a still, windless night.
Featuring Dulcet Voice, answering the cello in the second half.

This is beautiful Matt. I love this kind of stuff.
This is amazing Mark. It’s very imaginative compositional work. I could just see some sort of animated film storyline working in tandem with your music. It seems like you have put a lot of effort into your Album. Well it seems to me that your effort may well pay off buddy. Keep those creative juices going. All the best.
Who else caught the Dulcet Voice in the very opener of Fred and Rose West: British Horror Story!?!?!? I love the Dulcet Voice and it’s one I’m back on. This week I started revisiting a sound I started developing last year and can’t seem to get away from. Last November I released some instrumental music that I wanted to include an element of sound design-something I am still very new to-so I went about sampling some wine glasses and sampled the harmonics of my favorite guitar (a semi-hollow but otherwise very ordinary Hagstrom Viking). Anyone is welcome to download the raw and super basic Kontakt glass piano patch I have on Pianobook, but where TCHC comes in was finishing it off: the Dulcet Voice and Demon Drop drums were the perfect sounds to embody the concept of breaking glass that resonates throughout the project I called “Ways to Break a Window.” This track was one of my favorites to work on and the B section was what showed me the beauty of blending the Dulcet Voice with the homegrown glass. I’d love if you take a listen here on Spotify.

A tale of the unfolding of mysterious events at a Cotswold valley spinning mill in the early twentieth century.
This is part of a series of songs from an imaginary Edwardian music hall which I’ve been working on for a couple of years; the overarching narrative being that I claim to have discovered a collection of badly-degraded old recordings which I have been reconstructing. Each recording is accompanied by an off-printed sheet music cover, and occasionally a short note - which in this case reads:
A page from a trade directory - dated 1902 - included with this recording has a record of a spinning mill known as Madame Ariadne’s in the ancient wool town of Stark Choosing, Laucestershire. Whether this song and that mill are related is not recorded.
Also accompanying this recording is a handwritten note:
An account of a somewhat similar narrative is found in Q.R. Bunoni’s Old Laucestershire Tales and Stories. In that story a spider takes over a flour mill, operating the body of the miller (which it had rendered unconscious) as a marionette to conceal its activities. Exactly what the spider hoped to gain by this subterfuge is unclear.
I like your ingenuity Ed. I think this composition could fit in a old British periodic film drama maybe something like the 1968 film called Oliver. Keep up the good work.
Hi all ![]()
I’ve used the Vaults Acid synth very prominently on this new track below.
I wasn’t writing it with a demo in mind, but Acid Synth happened to be exactly what I needed to get the feel I was looking for.
There are multiple instances of Acid synth there, and I think it shows a lot of what it can do.
It also has other Crowhill plugins such as Demon drop for the main kick layer and a bit of Imperial Electric, R&D strings and Piano rack FX.
A few other synths used as well such as FM8 and some Logic and Reason synths. Also a little Spitfire Blank Forms as well.
Leighrandle your cyberpunk track is excellent. i particulary like the ambience of the intro. Good work! ![]()
Here a new entry of mine inspired by the music of Dune movie. It’s an ambience cinematic track ![]()
Mark you are awesome!! Excellent work! I wish saw your work in a video game ![]()
Thanks
and I like the Dune inspired track, it comes across as what it intends and the choice of distortion on the vocal is nice too (and not OTT) ![]()
Thanks for your words leighrandle! Indeed no OTT on vocals! ![]()
Premiere 16th of June 2025 on Zenapolae Netlabel
Nostalgia - The Mirror’s Longing, the second orchestral hybrid from the 11-piece series Roads Through the Mirror.
Each week up to the premiere, I’ll reveal one of four pivotal moments, teasing the full 20-part journey that explores memory, despair, and enlightenment through the lens of a mirror.
This week Vision of Youth the fourth part of Epochs 1: A radiant burst of light and hope, this moment captures the protagonist’s youthful spirit in full bloom. The music dances with innocence and possibility, inviting you to revisit your own unshackled dreams—pure, vibrant, and alive.
This part includes among others Crow Hill Gestures - Faint strokes and Crow Hill Piano Rack FX.
The series Roads Through the Mirror fuses traditional orchestral samples with the experimental, vintage-inspired sound of Hainbach’s plugins — think lo-fi resonance, analog warmth, and cosmic echoes that elevate every note.
Thoughts, comments and reflections always welcome.
Thank you for your kind interest in my music.
Regards,
Niclas
Hi, keeping the Acid going here! Venom meets Acid V(Arturia).
And a cheesy visualiser WARNING: Flashing Images
Nice
definitely has the vibe of the tracks of the era.
Thank you! I guess it’s ingrained in my DNA experiencing the scene from illegal raves to the organised corporate monster it became and beyond! ![]()
Here’s my entry for the latest Composing Challenge: Venom Trailer Rescore.
Using my phone, I recorded a Biscuit Tin (Bass Kick & Tin Break), Mini Tongue Drum (Tongue Keys), Bicycle Chain (Twisting Cog),
Ceramic Cup filled with spoons (Spoon HiHats), and the message notification vibration on my phone (FX & Noise).
I used some of the assets recorded by the Crow Hill team, lamp , wine glass and created my secret sample from one of those recordings!
The sample was of Theo’s stomach growling that, with manipulation, became Theo’s Tum Drum, that makes up part of the rhythm four beats in and onwards!

This week Lost Paths the second part of Epochs 2: Regret weighs heavy as the mirror reflects roads untaken. Cellos and brass weave a melancholic thread, striking a chord with anyone who’s lingered on life’s “what-ifs,” yet a faint pulse of resilience hints at what’s to come.
This part includes among others Crow Hill Gestures: Cascading Memories and Piano Rack FX.
